One of the biggest challenges my clients face when they first come to me is to be visible/book clients/make sales consistently. It’s by far the most common word that appears in enquiries landing in my inbox.
It’s certainly no secret that consistency is key with everything in life. I grew up with the saying “practise makes perfect” and although now we’re trying to get away from striving for what we believe to be perfection, sticking with something can only help us to get better or help us to learn.
For everybody I work with, I want to help them to a) have more time so they can do what they need to do consistently and b) do consistently what they don’t need to do themselves.
What does this look like?
Community management – moderating and responding consistently in the tone of voice of the client. This could include creating response guidelines so there is a consistent message, or being online at certain times/on certain days to ensure every opportunity to engage is fulfilled.
Management and assistance – writing and publishing blog posts, media features, PR and communications, Instagram posts, tweets, emails and more consistently to increase touch points and brand awareness.
Content strategy and consultancy – working together to inform and inspire for a consistent approach, consistent learning, consistent implementation and consistent evaluation.
It’s not easy to be consistent – even myself and the SP team don’t always manage it ourselves, but we recognise how important it is for us and our clients, so we’re always looking to ensure we don’t miss chances to streamline and/or look long-term.
Instead of looking for what else you can add to your plate, ask yourself what you could do more consistently which would help you to get closer to what you’re trying to achieve.
